If you can type an email, you can make money from your home with your computer. There are many things that people may need to have typed up while other companies and individuals simply need data entered into forms online.

There are several ways to get these kinds of positions depending on your skill, your experience and of course, your own hard work and ability to self promote.

Option number one is to join an online job community where you will get a listing of jobs that match the skills that you indicate you have in your profile. From there you can apply for jobs that match those skills.

In some cases, employers may send messages to you regarding your skills, giving you a personal invitation to apply or bid for their posted positions. Once you have a really good reputation as a good and fast typist, you may find yourself getting offers for really good positions.

Option number two is to apply for positions on your own. While you can certainly set your own pay rates this way, there is no guarantee that you will get this amount or anywhere near it. Not all companies are interested in hiring people this way, but the old saying is that it never hurts to ask.

Option number three is to approach your current employer about working from home doing the same work that you already are trained for.

Some of the types of things that you might be hired to do as a home typist can range from typing resumes or other documents to filling out online forms for insurance companies and other businesses. You might be hired to help a novelist get their book typed and ready to go to the publisher.

One day you will type the same thing over and over and over and another day, there might be a dozen different things that you will be doing.

The type of position that you are doing will depend on what kind of equipment you will need. Obviously, if you are going to be filling out online forms, you will need a high speed internet connection and a reliable computer. If you are going to be doing work that is typed and then sent somewhere, you may need a good word processing program and a printer. Each position or project may be different.

Pay determined by finished project

How much you are paid will vary from job to job or project to project. In some cases, pay is determined by the finished project while in other cases, you are paid by the word or by the page.

Always know how much you can expect to make from each project before agreeing to complete it. Remember, even when you are working from home, your time is valuable to you.
